Ghost Mothers

Ghost Mothers by Kathryn Rudlin is a well written and easy to follow account of the negative consequences to children growing up in a household where their mother is physically present but not emotionally available. This book is a tremendous eye opener. Kathryn has done a wonderful job explaining, through her own journey and research, what it is like to grow up with a Ghost Mother. This book offers understanding and healing to those who may be searching for answers.

helpful healing support

Ghost Mothers was helpful in understanding the situation with a mom who couldn't support her children. Though my mom died when I was young, some of the issues faced by women who's mom wasn't supportive were similar, and many of the exercises provided at the end of chapters were helpful to me. As a teacher and support person, I have shared Ghost Mothers with several friends and acquaintances, who have found it helpful also.
Kathy guides you though this difficult situation with references to her own life, sharing responses from other women in the same situation, and offering healing exercises . . it is a wonderful resource I will continue to share with others . .

Necessary Healing

I am very proud of how Kathryn decided to take her painful experiences and turn them into a positive opportunity to help others heal. I relate to her decision because of my own journey. This book combines her challenging personal experiences and all that she has learned from counseling others in a compelling and very personal way, to show how to reduce the amount of time spent suffering from similar issues, how to take steps to heal at all levels, and how to take responsibility for moving forward.
