Jean Van Hamme was born in 1939 in Belgium. His major breakthrough came in 1977, when he created the Viking hero ThorgalA" for Grzegorz Rosinski. Beautiful Artwork and a Solid Storyline

I greatly enjoyed this tale of the West in the 1880s.

The artwork is beautifully drawn: highly detailed and with a very muted but appropriate palette that really enhances an already good story. The splashes of color - typically blood from a gun shot or knife wound, really stand out all the more and punctuate the difficulty of life in the wild west. The art is also highly detailed - full color throughout and with none of the sparsity of modern digital comics. Chapters are divided with gorgeous, 2-page, high color painting-like artwork.

The story itself is excellent: with many unexpected twists and turns taken from a first person perspective. The artist gave the main character an almost childlike face to set off all the character goes through in the many years the story spans. Things always come full circle and this definitely is true of this moving story.

The book and story were definitely good enough for several rereads to experience the many nuances of the story. In all, highly recommended.

Samia Zumout nació en Jordania en una familia católica. Su familia emigró a los EU en 1983, cuando ella tenía 13 años. Samia asistió a UC Davis y recibió doble licenciatura en Relaciones Internacionales y francés. Recibió su Doctorado de la Escuela de Leyes de USF. Samia domina cuatro idiomas: inglés, árabe, español y francés.En 1990, después que Samia estudió en Francia por un año, viajó a Medjugorje, un pueblo en Bosnia-Herzegovina donde nuestra Santísima Madre María, supuestamente, ha aparecido diariamente desde 1981.Su experiencia en Medjugorje fue un momento crucial en la vida de Samia ya que experimentó de una manera tan profunda el amor inmenso de nuestro Señor Jesús por ella. Esto fue también el principio de su jornada de sanación interior y su ministerio de oración que la llevó a ser un instrumento del amor sanador de Dios para Sus hijos. En junio 2006, Samia sintió un deseo fuerte de escribir su autobiografía, El Puente entre el Este y el Oeste: Una Jornada a la Verdad a través de Su Amor.En el 2011, Samia fue diagnosticada con enfermedades que han atacado asu espina dorsal: esclerosis múltiple progresiva, estenosis cervical, y mielopatía. Got it to stick on my walls...

I got this issue to stick the cover and article on my walls (after reading it, of course). The only problem I have is the little white box in the corner of the cover, but that's shown in the picture, so I was already expecting it.

The condition was as good as it would've been if I bought it at the store. I liked it.

Don't get me wrong- I love this product and find it helpful with my schooling and career but I found a razor stuck between the pages when I just opened it. Needless to say I am NOT impressed.

Bad Printing! Unusable.

Make sure you go through this book in entirety after purchasing. i just realized, after a few months of owning, that the page progression is out of number. my copy goes from page 200 to page 400 back to 230; etc... and its not returnable. there are also many blank pages at the end.

Don't forget volume 2!

I agree with the review of TK below, but as for the ending leaving the reader "hanging", I know exactly what has happened. If one buys the Fredonia edition of the book, it comes in two volumes. For whatever reason, when searching the Amazon site and calling up the book, only volume one appears. It is possible to find volume two by typing in the ISBN number: 1589631714. After reading volume two, all those loose ends are tied up quite nicely and it makes it a very rewarding reading experience. The whole series of books in Dumas's Valois series: Queen Margot (Margaret de Valois), Chicot the Jester, and the two volumes of The Forty-Five Guardsmen are a wonderful story and deserve more attention.

Calling all history fans

Yes, I am absolutely crazy about 16th century French history. And Dumas has a whole series for this era. Though "La Dame de Montsoreau" is my favorite of the series, the Forty-Five does not lack young, handsome and rich gentlemen and beautiful and graceful ladies, not to mention the private lifestyle (humorous I found) of the King Henri III and his brother the duc d'Alençon. It was overall just captivating, I felt like I was reliving this time period. Again, I suggest you read the whole series, especially since this is the last book in the series. But I prefer this 'Valois' series to the 'D'Artagnan' or 'Marie-Antoinette' etc. series... It's more fascinating for me. The only thing is, that the end leaves a little something to be desired. I don't know if Dumas meant to write a fourth book in the series, cuz he seems to leave a few things hanging. But if you can ignore that, the rest of the plot is great!

It was really thrilling to read the story of the beginning of the King's musketeers. Excellent translation, wonderful action and characters, Dumas did it again. highly recommended.

A Must Read for Anyone Who Is Interested In Mediitation

I have been a student and practitioner of meditation for forty plus years. I am a psychologist with a focus on consciousness and state dependent cognition. I thought I was, "A Real Smarty-Pants", as my mother would say. I was shocked at my ignorance on this important technique of meditation. The author presents the clearest explanation, of what I believed to be a complex system, I have encountered in years of study. I feel I have a real understanding and appreciation of this meditation technique after reading this simple and well written book.
