Jaimey Grant, a pseudonym for Laura Miller, was born in Michigan in 1979. After a fun-filled childhood interlaced with moments of emotional trauma and an insatiable curiosity about the reasons people act the way they do, she became a writer. Already published works include Betrayal (the story of Adam and Bri), Spellbound, Heartless (the Duke of Derringer's story), and Redemption. Upcoming works include Honor (the story of Connor and Verena), Intrigue (the Earl of Holt's story) and two short stories in a young adult anthology called Unlocked. A Mastermind for Creating Characters

Jaimey Grant has put together a montage of excellent, well-constructed characters in a world all her own, set in Regency London. The characters, the characters, the characters...Jaimey knows how to add depth and create conflicts and pasts that are somewhat daunting when dealing with the ton. The descriptions of various settings in the book were excellent and had me there with the characters as they were experiencing whatever was going on. By the first few chapters of the story, you are friends with the characters. And Derringer's involvement in the story is absolutely wonderful. I got to meet new characters after already having read 'Betrayal,' learn more about existing characters, and enjoyed a wonderful story of forgiveness and trust. This was an excellent read, I devoured the pages like sour patch kids.

An excellent read! If you love Regency-era romance, you will love this!

A great deal of work must have gone into this well-written Regency. I also write Regencies, so I was very aware of the language, dialogue, setting, and tone. She does an exceptional job with characterization, and her story is actually quite 'spot on' with the mores of Regency Society. Jaimey has also done a good job demonstrating the harsh injustice suffered by the women of the time. Men could do anything and still be entirely acceptable to the 'ton,' but women? Poor Aurora is the victim of men's power over women. I was impressed with Jaimey's ability to smoothly blend Regency language into her narration and espcially into her dialogue. I did wish that the romance had been deepened and developed a little more and had built more slowly to a climax, but I enjoyed the romance. I would LOVE to read about Hart meeting someone and falling in love.

Outstanding Regency romance

While this review is long overdue, I'm honored to give five out of five stars to Jaimey Grant's Deception.
Grant's characters comprise a circle of friends and relations, so it's fun to see the people from other books show up as supporting characters. This particular tale involves Levi Greville and Aurora Glendenning, neither of whom are presenting an entirely accurate picture of themselves to society at large.
With intrigue, crime and yes, deception, all the way around, Grant has created an entertaining Regency novel that romance fans are sure to enjoy. In my opinion, Deception is her best work yet.
