I'm disappointed with this journal
By T. Furneaux
I'm disappointed with this journal. It writes from a a black & white perspective of life. True dat; living a life means you have to say "yes & no" at different moments. But, in my own humble opinion, living a true spiritual life isn't about waging a war. This journal might educate you about saying "no!" In a magical way. A useful skill. ..But so far the magazine doesn't inform about lifting you into higher realms in a real magical way. I've bought every issue so far, hoping it might rise somewhat higher. I look forward to the next one. (It might be useful for them to allow letters that allow criticism instead of only publishing letters of praise)

Hoodoo and Conjure New Orleans 2014
By Virginia E Harris
I am really enjoying the Hoodoo & Conjure New Orleans 2014 Magazine. This magazine has opened my eyes to a lot of things I didn't know. I was especially amazed and interested in Baba Eli's Ifa's reading for 2014 (he's a classmate and my chest was sticking way out) and also Carolina Dean's article, I just love his work. And of course our very own, Madrina's article on Palo, what a great introduction to it. Ok, I'm going to shut up now, if you want to know more, I ain't tellin...go buy the magazine yourself - it's worth it.

I do not expect any different coming from Alvarado
By bamboo grove
It is disappointing to see a few of these people with feature articles supposedly initiated into religions put out such bad information. Palo and Santeria are two completely different traditions and have NOTHING to do with conjure, or for the most part new orleans as it is related to tradition.

After some neopagan read this edition they now have the idea that Palo is Santeria, and that the nganga spiritual pot with the skull pictured is spirit enslavement, therefore all spirit pots must be spirit enslavement.

This could not be farther from the truth and is dismeaning to so many beautiful african traditions, which people have died over to try to keep intact instead of the s*** sandwich continually appealing to DIY neopagans and ignorant people who do not know any better.
